Join a conversation about how to defend, support, and promote the inclusion of disabled people in the UK, as we recover from coronavirus.
What we think:
We believe that we can only ‘recover stronger’ from the coronavirus pandemic if the rights of disabled people to be included are understood and protected in recovery planning.
Examples of groups who will be doing recovery planning include county and city councils, charities, businesses, and community sports, social, and recreational groups.
What we are doing:
We are working to bring interested people and organisations together from across the UK to coordinate around this goal. We believe that there will be a ‘window of opportunity’ when influencing recovery planning is easiest, and that it is important we make the most of it.
Meeting details:
This meeting is part of our ‘Inclusion in Focus’ series of workshops, events, and collaborations, and open to all individuals and organisations interested in inclusion. Discussion points will include:
What we know about the ways inclusion is being (and will be) affected for disabled people due to the coronavirus pandemic
What roles individuals and organisations can play in protecting, support and promoting inclusion in recovery planning
Can we more effectively together achieve the above if we work together? If so, how?
For meeting attendees: A summary report and notes, opportunities for further joint work, and the chance to network with other organisations and individuals joining.
