Apply to become a Branch founder!
As part of our branch expansion, we're looking for enthusiastic students at universities that don't yet have a KEEN branch! We're especially looking for students who study in Aberystwyth, Exeter, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Middlesborough and Hull - however, we'd love to set up branches elsewhere!
Are you a student at one such university? Are you passionate about creating new opportunities for children and young people with additional needs? If so, we’d love to hear from you to discuss becoming a Branch Founder!
This role includes:
Creating accessible opportunities for your local communities according to its demographics and existing gaps in the market
Advertising for and assembling your own branch committee with whom to organise meetings and develop ideas for activities
Contributing to KEEN UK’s national body of work, such as through helping to organise virtual activities and taking part in nationwide fundraising campaigns
Depending on your own interests and skills, it could potentially involve running sessions or research projects on disability!
In this role, you can expect to develop the following skills and more:
Leadership to put together and lead a team and then recruit volunteers for whatever kind of service you want to run
Project development and management, including financial projections and planning for eventual handover upon graduation
Communication skills with a wide range of people: your committee, the KEEN National Committee members, the KEEN staff team and other societies and services within your university
Although it can be an intense commitment, becoming a Branch Founder will allow you to develop in many ways beyond most of our other roles and make a real positive change in your community. All of our Branch Founders are also university students - if they could do it, so can you! So if you’re interested, please email our Director, Roo, explaining why you're interested in the role and detailing any experience you have!
