My Micro-Internship Experience!

Hi! I’m Sarah Lusty and I am currently in my final year studying Geography at the University of Oxford. I completed the KEEN Micro-Internship Programme this December and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone - whether you are directly interested in the non-profit sector or want extra experience for your CV!

 The micro-internship with KEEN is varied and busy, you really feel you are making a difference and are given responsibility to lead projects from the front.  Across my week with KEEN there were clear team objectives; we advertised and promoted National KEEN Committee roles across the UK as well as designing and rolling out a national branch-push campaign. We were given a lot of freedom to manage these projects: designing logos, producing written content, sending emails and updating the website.

Projects with genuine outcomes are rewarding - knowing that your hard work was productive and useful. Such projects are also useful for CV and interviews – using this micro-internship I can talk confidently about making genuine change and deliver on a project. A micro-intern with KEEN is able to develop transferable skills, such as teamwork and leadership, as well as technical skills, using Squarespace and Canva.

KEEN is the fastest growing UK movement for inclusion enabling exciting opportunities and campaigns. The micro-internship was productive, meaningful and useful and I would highly recommend anyone to apply for it.
