Report: Getting Things Changed
Why not read Bristol University’s report on inclusivity!
‘Getting Things Changed’ was a large multi-centre programme of UK based research in Disability Studies, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council between 2015-2018.
The study was led by a team at the University of Bristol, with Disability Rights UK, the National Development Team for Inclusion and partners in three other universities.
The research focused on exclusions, both from everyday life and from within health and social care. It highlights the ‘othering’ of disabled people - how disabled people may be supported, but seen as a ‘problem’ that needed addressing.
But it is a positive report too. Its analysis of Open Orchestras shows how young people with severe disabilities can be supported and included in exciting collaborative projects.
Go on, give it a read!
