My Micro-Internship Experience!

Hi! I’m Elisa, a second year Arts and Sciences student at UCL. This week, I had the great pleasure of interning with KEEN and working alongside some other amazing interns, Sarah, Maya and Siddiq on the charity’s recruitment and expansion strategy. Already a volunteer for the KEEN UCL branch, I wanted to get an understanding of what working for a non-profit looks like in the day to day. In all aspects, this internship did not disappoint!

Here are some reasons why:

  • You work at the heart of the action: no matter the project you will be assigned, this internship really allows you to take initiative. Not only your suggestions are taken into account, you are encouraged to carry them out. With something different to do everyday, you will be challenged and definitely won’t get bored.

  • From contacting eventual partners through different platforms, to editing the website or producing social media content to launch a new campaign, you get to try doing a bit of everything! Go get those transferable skills ;)

  • Work in a really kind and supportive environment: the staff team is really passionate about what they do and always keen (no pun intended ^^) to hear our ideas and feedback, and to help out when needed. Our regular meetings with Rupert, our intern supervisor meant we always knew what our next steps were, which allowed us to work efficiently and achieve our goals.

So, what are you waiting for?
